Secretary's Report: Approved and filed
Treasurer's Report: HS reported
Director's Report:
- October 10, 2006: HS reports that the HVAC is going well,
although many interruptions are occurring during the day. The
noise level is high. MF suggests putting a sign at both entrances
to explain and thank the patrons for their understanding. HS will
provide a Central Aire account to MF.
- HS attended a NHLA/READS (Reference and Adult Services)
meeting. She met with DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution)
and gave them an overview of the Heritage Quest (genealogy) online
database.
- HS is looking for synonyms for technical terms (database,
download, etc) for when she is presenting to those who may not be
familiar with technical terms.
- HS handed out newsletters at Old Home Day which included
advertising for the Oct 14th Book Sale. MF suggests having a table
at the Book Sale where people can sign up for library cards in an
effort to increase the numbers of new patrons. Also include at
that table recommended titles available.
- HS wants to provide newsletters to Cigna, Oxford, GE and even
doctor's offices, etc.
Unfinished Business:
- HVAC
- October 10, 2006: HS to provide an update to MF. Delta
can't do the cleaning at this time because of the work is being
done.
- Status of 2006 Wal*Mart Grant
- October 10, 2006: MB to report at a later time.
- Newsletter Distribution and Frequency
- October 10, 2006: Looking for sponsors.
- Update on Meeting Room Request
- October 10, 2006: HS has two requests from Cub Scouts in
November and March. They will start the meetings before 5pm.
Trustees approved the requests.
- New Sound Equipment for Meeting Rooms
- October 10, 2006: Jeff Scott received a quote and will
write up something for us tonight. Borrowing equipment from the
school is a wonderful option that is being explored. This is a
perfect example to how the Library can work with various town
and school departments to maximize the resources available to
serve the town.
- Status of Shelving and Endcaps
- October 10, 2006: HS would like MF to call Ed Comptois. Two
endcap quotes will be turned in by October 20th by HS.
- Grant Dispersements/Books for Babies
- October 10, 2006: ML offered to help HS in getting the ball
rolling. We set a date for Nov. 1, 2006 to send letters to new
parents to invite them in to pick up the package and get a tour
of the library. ML emailed HS October 10, 2006 with the rest of
the addresses.
- Book Sale Tables
- BD has arranged to borrow 12 tables from Holy Rosary Parish
.
- Reader Board signs around town
- MF suggests advertising on 20 reader boards around town. TH
noted a number of locations she will ask. ML will concentrate
on the locations on the west side of the river. ML has left a
message for Duford Farms on 3A (the old Farmer's Market Deli)
for permission to advertise the book sale. Also, the Telephone
Worker's Credit Union on Hooksett Rd is working on a Community
Bulletin Board, using their electronic message board. They hope
to have this in place during the next 12 months to include
communities around Manchester's advertising needs. Also, BD
asked HS to check on Banner exposure for the Book Sale. ML will
mail thank you notes to the following businesses next week for
their help in advertising the sale:

HS to bring the topic to the staff meeting for ideas. MF
suggests taking pictures during the Book Sale, Story Hours,
etc. just for starters.
- Update on Zoning Issue
- October 10, 2006: Jeff Burd met with Dave Jodoin, MF and HS
