Secretarys report- Minutes for April 10 were accepted as presented and filed
Treasurers Report Financials were reviewed. There was a discussion about the remaining expenditures to be made from the budget.
Library Directors Report
- Circulation report for April is still not correct due to "bugs" in the new Horizon system. GMILCS continues to work to straighten out the problems.
- Fran will email draft of Patriot Act policy to trustees. There is another seminar on the Patriot Act at the Library Trustees Convention in May which she will attend. Vickie and Lee Ann are still reviewing the Unattended Children Policy after attending a program where this was discussed.
- FH and possibly AV will attend Library Trustees Spring Convention on May 29th.
Old Business
- Community Survey-Trustees reviewed results of survey, both numerical and comments section. As a result of comments, Trustees would like to implement Saturday hours for the 2004-2005 year. There were many very favorable comments about the library in general and the staff in particular. MF will contact Fire Department about a CPR class for the fall and will also contact Red Cross about a babysitting class.
- The Community Calendar- Jeff to make it a priority to get together with Robin to get this started. FH mentioned that she saw new calendar software at the convention and was very impressed with its capabilities Trustees decided to go with what we have for now but might be open to a more comprehensive package in the future.
- Meeting room calendar to be computerized for ease of use by staff and patrons. Patrons still have to be approved for room use.
- Craft Classes- Bethany Chase and Joy Buzzell conducted a scrapbooking class in April. As a result of discussion, trustees would like staff to tell patrons that they should call library if they will be unable to attend a class for which they have previously registered as there may be people on a waiting list for space in the class.
- Calligraphy Class- MF has not yet contacted Yolanda Walsh.
- Tammy Hooker will conduct a stamping class on May 13.
- Gates computer issues: Jeff and Kathy Scott attended the Gates workshop in Seattle. Jeff reported that the classes were very useful, particularly with regard to security issues. Computers will arrive the week of May 26th and training for staff has been scheduled for week of June 23rd.
- Rear Parking Lot- FH to contact Dale Hemeon about options for safety barriers in parking area both in front of and behind library.
- Storage Room- Storage area reorganization to be done during the summer.
- Banner article- MF to draft article about on line databases.
New Business
- Trustees authorized purchase of new computer
- As a result of many patron complaints about computer crashes, slowness of computers etc, we will be upgrading all public access computers to Windows 2000 for now and to Windows XP when Gates Foundation certifies the security issues are resolved.
- Emailing info on library events. FH to ask Jeff to come to next meeting to discuss the possibility of setting up an email list to inform patrons of upcoming events.
- HVAC project: After consulting with Diane Savoie about necessity of bidding for design and construction supervision on this portion of the project, trustees decided to put project out to bid. MJ to consult with Doug St. Pierre about wording for bids. MF to send Diane Savoie a letter requesting encumbering of funds
- There were three complaints about library materials. Proper procedure was followed.
